When Man Utd will make £30m midfielder bid as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer steps up transfer deals
MANCHESTER UNITED are expected to make a £30m bid for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff this week, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to continue his upheaval of the Old Trafford squad.
Longstaff only signed a new, four-year deal at St James’ Park
Newcastle are relatively short in midfield after they released Mohamed Diame earlier this month.
They’ve also just sold one of their star players, Ayoze Perez, to Leicester for £30m.
The club are determined to make sure Longstaff isn’t another departure this summer, and may even have to offer him a new contract to make sure he stays at Newcastle.
Longstaff only signed a new, four-year deal at St James’ Park in December 2018, but his value has significantly increased over the past six months.
United’s interest, in particular, has prompted the midfielders’ representatives to angle for a new deal at Newcastle.

United are still hoping to land Longstaff this summer, despite Newcastle’s insistence that he won’t be leaving.
He made just nine appearances for Newcastle in the Premier League last season, scoring one goal.
He was called up to the first-team squad after an injury crisis at the club, but subsequently staked him claim to remain in the starting line-up.
But, he suffered a season-ending knee injury in March, when he was almost certain of an England Under-21 call-up.
Longstaff was previously on loan at Blackpool in League One, and he played in all 42 of their league games, scoring eight goals.
