Manchester United chief Woodward is chasing a deal for Leicester star Maguire this summer, 12 months after he stopped Jose Mourinho from pursuing a transfer.
Mourinho went to the Red Devils vice-executive chairman and demanded the England international be signed following his impressive performances at the World Cup in Russia, where the Three Lions reached the semi-finals.
Except Woodward said no and had to sit back and watch as Manchester United shipped a massive 54 Premier League goals, missing out on a place in the top four in the process.
A year on, and United have already seen one bid for Maguire fail.

But reports have claimed that the Red Devils are still hopeful of convincing the Foxes to give up Maguire.
Meanwhile, ESPN pundit Steve Nicol has backed United’s decision to chase Maguire, believing him to be a better option than Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
“Well Alderweireld’s 30,” Nicol said.
“Actually for me, the last 18 months, he hasn’t been particularly great.
“Harry Maguire, Manchester United will know exactly what they’re going to get.
