Celtic’s SPFL fixtures were announced on Friday as Neil Lennon targets a fourth-consecutive domestic treble.
Steven Gerrard and Rangers stand in Lennon’s way in his purist to equal the most top-flight title triumphs in succession, with both bosses desperate to improve their playing squads to improve their chances.
Lennon has spoken out on his transfer targets after their fixtures were announced, and tested fans about several deals being completed behind the scenes.
He told Sky Sports: “David Turnbull had a sensational first season at Motherwell and we were very impressed with him, we’re hoping that things can get completed today.
“He’ll have the medical this morning and hopefully he’ll sign this afternoon.
“I think we need to add to the squad, the players have been playing non-stop football for the last three years and there’s no question that the players that are still here need help.”
The Northern Irish boss has revealed why his squad needs adding to despite winning the past nine domestic titles above the border, and outlined fatigue as a worry.
He added: “Some of them have been playing over 60 games consistently for the last three years, hence why we have done a treble treble which is a remarkable feat and we’re not stopping there.

That must be a neutral observer point of view if they think that Rangers are getting closer to Celtic
Celtic boss Neil Lennon on Rangers
“We want more, and hopefully with the injection of fresh quality we can give the players around the club a much-needed incentive to move forward.
“It’s all set up to be a very exciting season - we know what’s at hand and what the priorities are, we have targets set in mind in terms of player recruitment and we’re working away in the background on that.”
Rangers fans have argued that their club is now closer to Celtic in terms of ability than they have been in almost ten seasons, but Lennon hit back at claims that the two clubs are now at similar levels.
He continued: “When you say they’re [Rangers] getting closer, we still won the league by nine points last season as well as both domestic trophies.

“That must be a neutral observer point of view if they think that Rangers are getting closer to Celtic.”
Celtic hero Andy Walker has given his thoughts on the rivalry ahead of the new Premiership season, and he admits that Rangers now pose a substantial threat.
He said: “There is only one team that can challenge Celtic for the title and it is Rangers.
“Rangers did progress last season and i think the important thing for Steven Gerrard and Rangers is that he gets the financial backing that he’s looking for.”
