Man City transfer news: Bayern Munich reveal major update on Leroy Sane signing
MANCHESTER CITY forward Leroy Sane has been linked with a summer transfer to German giants Bayern Munich, but there’s been a big update as it looks like the deal may fall through.
Man City ‘have to make a choice’ about Leroy Sane says pundit
Bayern’s move for City forward Sane may have fallen through, it’s been revealed.
The President of Bayern, Uli Hoeness, said the deal is looking increasingly unlikely.
That’s because the two clubs can’t agree a price for the 23-year-old, who’s contracted to City for another two years.
The amount of money that the Citizens want for Sane is “insane”, he said.
It is unlikely that it will work
“It is unlikely that it will work,” Hoeness told German media outlet Kicker.
“It's about sums, they're insane.”
Bayern have long been in contact with Sane’s family about eventually ending up at the Allianz.
But Hoeness revealed that City now want to keep him, as they look to win the Premier League title for a third season in a row.
It had previously been reported that Pep Guardiola was willing to let Sane go, for the right price.
That’s because City have a number of players that could fill his position, should he leave, including Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez.
It would have taken a big offer from Bayern for City to sell Sane, however.
The club have already knocked back an €80m (£71m) bid for the forward from the German champions.
It’s believed that Sane has rejected a contract extension at City, as he wants more game time.
The German has made 31 appearances for City in the league this season, but started just 21 of them.
Even still, he was a crucial part of City’s title winning team, and scored the winner against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
Sane scored 10 goals in the league last season, but also crucially provided 10 assists.
