Leroy Sane wants to be a top player at a top club says pundit
Sane recorded double figures in Premier League goals and assists for the second straight season last campaign as Manchester City won the title with 98 points.
The German winger found himself third in the wingers pecking order, however, starting 10 fewer games than both Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva.
Although the champions are understood to be working on a new deal for the 23-year-old, whose contract expires in 2021, Bayern Munich have tried to turn his head.
The Bundesliga champions have waved goodbye to veteran widemen Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, and are looking to embellish their depleted options on the flanks.
Although City have no intention of selling, Matthaus believes his former club will seal the deal this summer.
"A player who, in my eyes, will enchant the Bayern fans next year is Leroy Sane. I am sure he will move to Munich," Matthaus said in a Sky Germany column.
"If [club president] Uli Hoeness publicly reveals that a bid has been made for the player, this results in the vast majority of cases in a move to Bayern.”

“It would be a fantastic transfer,” Matthaus added, "as Sane is one of the best wingers out there.
“Tricky, dangerous for goal, fast, usable on both wings and with a great future ahead of him.
"Guardiola is not really satisfied with him [Sane], the player wants to play more regularly and with Bayern looking for at least one man for the wing.

“With the departure of Robben and Ribery, it would be a win-win transfer for all parties.
"Quality always has its price and Sane is more expensive than the previous record transfer of £68m (€80m) for Lucas Hernandez.
"He may not be quite as expensive as Neymar, although put salary, bonus payments and transfer fees together, it would become a new record in Bayern's history. But the player is worth it."
