Man United: Woodward could STOP De Ligt deal says expert
Manchester United chief Woodward hired Van Gaal as David Moyes’ successor in 2014, just weeks after the Red Devils had finished the season sitting seventh in the Premier League table.
The Dutchman divided opinion during his two years at the club, winning the FA Cup but boring fans with his drab style of play.
Woodward has since sacked another Manchester United boss in the form of Jose Mourinho, whose head rolled back in December.
And Van Gaal has taken aim at the United supremo, insisting he knows ‘nothing’ about how football works.
“At Bayern, the people in charge are football men. I always appreciated that,” he said.
“At Manchester United, on the other hand, Ed Woodward was installed as CEO — somebody with zero understanding of football who was previously an investment banker.
"It cannot be a good thing when a club is run solely from a commercially-driven perspective.”
Mourinho may agree.
The United boss has used his punditry work to suggest the Red Devils are in disarray behind the scenes.
