Gary Neville makes Barcelona and Real Madrid claim that will worry Liverpool and Man City
BARCELONA and Real Madrid would take any of Liverpool or Manchester City’s wingers in a heartbeat.
Liverpool: Real Madrid have their eye on Sadio Mane says Hislop
That is according to Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United defender Gary Neville.
Neville has heaped praise on Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane and Manchester City stars Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
Salah and Mane have contributed to a combined 45 goals and assists in the Premier League this season.
Sterling and Sane have provided the exact same amount between them, with Sane’s 10 assists the most out of the four.
The biggest compliment I can pay that Real Madrid and Barcelona would want all four of them tomorrow
Neville says the role of wingers has changed completely in recent years.
And he reckons the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid could be sniffing around any of them.
“They’re the most devastating [wingers] when it comes to goalscoring,” Neville said.
“Actually I used to think if you’ve got a wide player who got a chance, he wouldn’t always take it.
“These are finishers, they’re goalscorers.
“So for me, the game’s changed a lot in the last 10 years.
“Wide players now are not wingers anymore, they are more often than not wide forwards, three attackers, although Manchester City’s wide players do play as wingers when they’re on the ball.
“But we are seeing absolute devastation.
“The biggest compliment I can pay that Real Madrid and Barcelona would want all four of them tomorrow.
Man United: Pogba not likely to leave this summer says Solskjaer
“And usually what they’d do is pick the next best players in the world.
“I think Salah, Mane, Sterling, Sane, you could probably add Bernardo Silva to that from Barcelona’s point of view, you could probably put those five into a pot and Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have always plucked the best players out of our country, would take every single one of them tomorrow, because they’re outstanding.”
In response, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher says he would rather Barca and Real go after City’s stars.
“Listen, it maybe a challenge [to keep them],” Carragher said.
“But they can’t have all of them can they? So they can take the City one.”
