Cristiano Ronaldo focuses on his recovery after Portugal clash
Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon as a teenager in 2003 and as a replacement for David Beckham, who had departed for Real Madrid.
The Juventus talisman spent six years at Old Trafford, winning three Premier League crowns and the 2008 Champions League title along the way.
And former United chief Edwards has now opened up on the deal to sign the 34-year-old during his youth.
"He was a great talent even when he was 18 and it could seem like a gamble to invest so much money on him,” he told Tuttosport.
