Souness, speaking ahead of Sunday's Merseyside derby, says Alexander-Arnold has undoubted quality at crossing situations, which is evident from the faith shown by his team-mates.
But he admits there is still work to do on his defending.
“Yeah [he was missed against Manchester United] because they had the majority of the ball, they were on the front foot for the majority of the game,” Souness said.
