Liverpool v Bayern Munich: Champions League match preview
Bayern Munich head into their clash at Anfield as slight underdogs - such is Liverpool’s strength at home.
Anfield is set for another memorable European night in this first leg of Liverpool’s last-16 clash with Bayern.
Bayern have won their last two outings after a brief blip in early February.
They have scored three goals in wins over Schalke and Augsburg and are gunning for an aggregate lead in tonight’s tie too.
He's improving by the hour
Bayern manager Nico Kovac may be without defender Jerome Boateng for the showdown on Merseyside.
Franck Ribery is not confirmed in the Bayern squad after becoming a father on Sunday, while Arjen Robben is not in the group that headed to Liverpool.
"Franck Ribery will join up with us,” Kovac said.
“We'll have to wait and see if Jerome Boateng can - if the doctors say he's not an infection risk, then he could yet be an option.”
Liverpool: Klopp 'wary' ahead of clash against Bayern Munich
Good news for Bayern Munich is that Kingsley Coman should be ready to play for the German giants after suffering an injury on Friday.
"He's improving by the hour. Kingsley [Coman] needs to be completely pain-free,” the manager said.
“We're optimistic that the medical team will have him in shape by tomorrow night."
Discussing the fixture, Kovac added: "We're playing against an opponent that's the most difficult draw.
"If you look at what Liverpool did in the Champions League last season and what Liverpool are doing in the Premier League this season, then you have to say Liverpool is the most difficult draw that there is.
"Other draws would have been difficult.
"But I maintain that tomorrow and in Munich the form on the day will be decisive."
