Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus celebrate best moments for birthday
Cristiano Ronaldo was the cover star for FIFA 19 when the game hit shelves back in September, with the Juventus star used to sell the game all over the world.
However, the 34-year-old has now been replaced by Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, PSG’s Neymar and Juventus team-mate Paulo Dybala.
Ronaldo has been in the news recently for allegations surrounding his personal life, while he also accepted a fine for tax evasion at a trail in Spain last month.
But EA have now moved to clarify why the Portugal international is no longer the game’s big star.
"With the UEFA Champions League coming to EA Sports FIFA 19 this year, we have a unique opportunity to offer a range of new content to players that reflects the real-world excitement of football," they told Eurogamer.
"We often celebrate different talent across our sports games.
“And with the UEFA Champions League knockout stages underway we are featuring some of the biggest stars in football and bringing new players a range of content to get excited about."
EA were also asked about Ronaldo’s situation as their cover star earlier this season.

And they said: "We have seen the concerning report that details allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, as we expect cover athletes and ambassadors to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with EA's values.”
Ronaldo first appeared as a FIFA cover star in 2017.
In the past, he was the spearhead for FIFA’s big rivals, Pro Evolution Soccer.
