ARSENAL striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has told manager Unai Emery he wants to play as a striker.
Arsenal: Denis Suarez scores SCREAMER in training
The Gabon star is the club’s top scorer this season with 18 goals in all competitions.
But he has been forced to play on the left wing to accommodate Alexandre Lacazette in Emery’s three-man attack.
And while he says he is happy to play anywhere to help the team, fans might be worried after he pleaded with the boss to change his tactics so they can play two out-and-out strikers.
"My favourite role is playing striker, in front,” Aubameyang said.
“I also like playing on the wing, but I think my best position is striker.
"I like to play with two up front, it's nice because you can do some combinations with the other strikers.
"If the coach needs me on the right or on the left, it doesn't matter, I go and I fight for the team, it's no problem."
Aubameyang and Lacazette have struck up an excellent partnership on the pitch when played together and developed a friendship off of it.
"We were rivals before in France, I was not expecting for him to be my friend, but today is different,” he added.
“At first when I came here, he gave me a lot of confidence, because we spoke straight.
"We have the same vision about football, which is a good point between us, and that's the point that started this friendship."
Emery’s side go to Manchester City on Sunday as they looking to cause an upset to consolidate their place in the top four in the Premier League.
“Tough match,” Emery said when asked about facing City. “We are playing against the best.
“Now, with Liverpool, they are doing a very big Premier League this season.
"Maybe they have lost some matches but that is an accident.
“When they are home for us it is difficult. But we want to show everybody we can play. Every player has a big ambition to show their best quality.”
