Real Madrid news: Sergio Ramos tells fans what they must NOT expect after Girona win
REAL MADRID star Sergio Ramos has told fans not to get used to his Panenka penalty technique after Los Blancos’ 4-2 Copa del Rey win over Girona.
Real Madrid Captain Sergio Ramos shows off football skills
Real Madrid star Ramos scored a brilliant brace as Santiago Solari’s side beat Girona in their Copa del Rey showdown on Thursday.
Los Blancos managed to emerge from a tricky encounter unscathed, with Ramos’ brace coming in between strikes from Lucas Vazquez and Karim Benzema.
Ramos’ penalty kick for Real Madrid went viral after the match, with the forward’s deft finish one a striker would have been proud of.
The Spain international has warned fans not to get too used to it, however.
"It's a very good personal moment and it's a way of expressing myself,” he said.
“You do not have to get used to it because the goalkeepers are waiting for me more.”
Many Real fans will have been delighted to have seen Benzema find the net.
The France international has looked a shadow of his former self ever since Cristiano Ronaldo’s summer move to Juventus.
Earlier this month, reports surfaced saying Real players had demanded Benzema be replaced by Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski.
But Ramos insists Benzema is still vital to the cause.
"Karim is a great player, very unbalancing and important,” he said.
“For us he will always be a key player, he puts pressure, defensive work, less showy, but it is just as important as scoring.
“It does not matter who gets the goals. He will help us with goals and when we need him the most, he has always been there.”
Meanwhile, Santiago Solari has lauded Ramos by saying he could play up front.
"I wouldn't rule it out.
"Sergio is a warrior, a leader.
“He showed that in defence, and in the opposition area heading his second goal just like a centre-forward.
"He took the penalty like that [a Panenka], he's a specialist - so perfect.
“He doesn't just take them like that, but in many different ways."
