Harry Kane injury: Mauricio Pochettino makes ‘massive’ admission after Man Utd loss
MAURICIO POCHETTINO has admitted Harry Kane’s injury could be a ‘massive’ blow to Tottenham’s hopes of winning the Premier League.
Tottenham: Pochettino gives Harry Kane injury update
Kane suffered an ankle injury in the closing moments of Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, which has left the north Londoners nine points behind league leaders Liverpool.
The England international collapsed to the floor following an attempted clearance by Victor Lindelof and had to be helped off the pitch by a member of Tottenham’s medical team after the final whistle.
A prolonged injury to Kane would be a huge blow for Tottenham, who will soon be without the services of Son Heung-Min due to the Asia Cup.
And Pochettino is worried the knock could keep Spurs’ main man on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.
"My worry is that it was a bad tackle in the last moment,” the Argentine said of Kane’s injury.
“It wasn't the intention of the United player but it was a bad tackle and now he has bit of a swelling on his ankle and he was limping after the game.
"We are going to lose Son for the Asia Cup and if Harry Kane suffers an injury, it is going to be massive for us."
Tottenham were handed their second loss in the last four league matches courtesy of a late first-half goal from Marcus Rashford.

Spurs dominated the second half, so much so that they forced United goalkeeper David de Gea into making a staggering 11 saves.
Pochettino was bitterly disappointed with the result but is ‘pleased’ with how his troops played in the second half.
He said: “Tottenham did everything to win the game. Maybe we dominated and we created a lot of chances. It was an amazing second half, I am so pleased.
"Sometimes you win a game and you are disappointed, like when we won 3-0 at Old Trafford.
“They were better than us that day. Today the result should be different and I am happy.
“That is the way that we want to grow and play. Taking risks, playing football that we are going to play.
“The team was fantastic, that is the best 45 minutes I have seen Tottenham play since I took charge.
"There were 11 saves from De Gea who was outstanding. He fully deserved to be man of the match.
"It was a clear foul on Harry Kane, a big hit, Mike Dean said he didn't see it.
"Kane twisted his ankle and we hope that it is not a big issue."
Tottenham will look to bounce back from their latest setback next Sunday when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on relegation-threatened Fulham.
