I’ve been speaking to some of the guys inside Liverpool Football Club and they rate Curtis and Rafael Camacho
And he was looking forward to seeing them both play, but in particular Englishman Jones.
“I’ve been speaking to some of the guys inside Liverpool Football Club and they rate Curtis and Rafael Camacho, who are both making their debuts this evening,” Shearer said on BBC One.
“Seventeen years of age, it’s fantastic. Another one off the production line there at Anfield.
“He can play anywhere across the midfield, they tell me he loves a tackle, got a great engine, can get up and down the pitch, also can pick a pass.
“So what an evening for those boys.”
Former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince was also delighted to see Jones given a chance by Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s great to see (young English talent),” Ince said.
“And to be fair Liverpool are great at doing it.
“They’ve done it for years and years and years.
“It’s great to see because we moan about English players getting their chance.
“So we know their avenues are going to be through cup competitions like this.
“So I’m looking forward to seeing how he’ll play.”
Wolves went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Raul Jimenez and Ruben Neves.
