But Tommy Wright has overseen a reversal of fortunes in recent weeks, with St Johnstone going on an eight-game unbeaten streak until last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Motherwell.
And McCoist has warned Gerrard’s side they must be on top of their game today - because Wright will be going for a win.
“I was at this game at Inbox and I was up for the Celtic game,” McCoist said on BT Sport.

“But at the same time what a turnaround - what a run that they went on.
“Defensively they have been really, really sound and apart from right up to the Motherwell game last week, where Motherwell beat them are, they’ve been on top form.
“From Tommy’s point of view, he will probably be looking at that Motherwell game as a little bit of a blip.
