Pogba has been an unhappy figure at Man United this season (Image: GETTY )
Andy Mitten, editor of the acclaimed United We Stand magazine, understands Pogba himself wanted to join Barcelona after falling out with Jose Mourinho.
But while the La Liga giants have shown an interest, and their captain Gerard Pique even publicly courted the player, Pogba remains at Old Trafford.
The first two factors in play that mean Pogba hasn't moved to the Nou Camp involve money.
Mitten says Barcelona don't have enough cash to, firstly, pay his transfer fee while they also can't shell out for his mega wages.
While the third problem is that Manchester United don't want to sell as they still believe Pogba can still be an £89million success story - despite his ongoing row with Jose Mourinho.
"He's wanted to leave, but he's wanted to join a club who don't want him," Mitten told the Beyond the Pitch podcast.
"Barcelona don't have the money to pay his transfer fee, or wages, and Manchester United don't want to sell a player who they've brought in to the talisman of their rebuilding and still hope that's going to be the case.
"When you see him playing for France and winning the World Cup he's clearly talented.
