Wimbledon red card: The moment Anthony Wordsworth KICKS Chelsea player Tariq Lamptey
WIMBLEDON star Anthony Wordsworth was sent off for a horrendous kick at Chelsea youngster Tariq Lamptey tonight.
Wimbledon were playing Chelsea U21s in the Checkatrade Trophy.
The Blues were 2-1 up against their London neighbours with just four minuets left on the clock.
And Wordsworth caused a melee on the pitch when lashing out at Lamptey.
Defender Lamptey, 18, picked the ball up in the Chelsea area and made to carry it forward.
He bypassed Wordsworth, at which point the Dons star lashed out.
The kick resulted in five Chelsea players storming at the midfielder to protest.
And the match referee wasted little time brandishing the red card.
Wordsworth, 29, joined Wimbledon in the summer after three years at Southend.
He started his career at Colchester before moving to Ipswich and has also enjoyed stints on lan at Rotherham and Crawley Town.
As for Lamptey, tonight was his fourth U21 appearance for Chelsea this season.
He played a role in their 4-0 and 5-0 wins at Swindon and Plymouth respectively, while also being on the recovering end of a 3-0 thrashing at Notts County.
