Chelsea news: Borussia Dortmund will make Blues SWEAT over Christian Pulisic transfer
CHRISTIAN PULISIC cannot get in the Borussia Dortmund starting XI - but the Bundesliga side will still not let him leave for Chelsea in January.
Dortmund will NOT allow Pulisic transfer to Chelsea says Hislop
That is the opinion of ESPN FC pundit and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
Pulisic has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Liverpool in recent weeks.
The USA international has seen his game time reduced due to the emergence of England youngster Jadon Sancho.
Pulisic has started just four Bundesliga games this season, the last of which came on September 29.
At this point, Dortmund don’t want to be reducing their squad, taking away option
Borussia Dortmund are flying high at the top of the league, seven points clear of second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach.
They have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
And for that reason, Hislop reckons Dortmund will be keen to keep hold of Pulisic until the end of the season at least.
When asked about a move to Chelsea in January, Hislop said: “The big issue for Christian Pulisic right now is he is not a regular in the Dortmund side.
Christian Pulisic needs to become a regular says Paul Mariner
“So, invariably, he’s being linked with moves here, there and everywhere.
“The other side of that same coin is Dortmund sit top of the Bundesliga, they’re going great in the Champions League.
“He started their last three Champions League games.
“I don’t see him going anywhere in January with so much at stake.
“At this point, Dortmund don’t want to be reducing their squad, taking away options.
“That makes no sense in January.”
Pulisic has made 111 appearances for Dortmund in total, scoring 15 goals.
He has scored nine times in his 22 caps for his country.
