Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri responds to question about Christian Pulisic transfer
CHELSEA boss Maurizio Sarri has refused to comment on reports that say he has launched a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea: Pulisic will move to Liverpool over Blues says Nicol
It was claimed that Chelsea are the first club to firm up their interest with an official offer, with Liverpool understood to be interested as well.
However, Sarri says it is not his place to comment on players other than his own.
“I don’t want to talk about a player from another club,” the Italian said.
Pulisic is reported to prefer a move to Liverpool to reunite with former Dortmund chief Jurgen Klopp.
He is valued at £70million although Chelsea’s bid is said to have fallen below that.
The American, 20, is out of contact in 18 months time and Dortmund could look to cash in when the January window opens.
But it is also claimed they will stand firm and hold out for the full £70m.
Pulisic has previously said he is keen on moving to England and will make a decision on this future in January.
Chelsea are understood to be keen as they fear they will lose Eden Hazard.
The Belgian’s deal at Stamford Brideg expires in 2020 and he is set to agree new terms.
The Dortmund star could come in as a direct replacement and Dortmund are reported to have already lined up Hazard’s brother Thorgan Hazard to replaced him.
Pulisic is one of the hottest properties in Europe and was named as runner-up in the first-ever Kopa Trophy on Monday.
The new award is given to the best player in the world under the age of 21 and Kylian Mbappe was crowned as the inaugural winner.
“Great honor (sic) to be named Runner Up in the #kopatrophy,” he said on Twitter.
