Chelsea news: Eden Hazard and Willian slammed for harsh treatment of THIS team-mate
RUUD GULLIT claims Chelsea stars Eden Hazard and Willian do not trust Alvaro Morata and accused them of refusing to pass to the misfiring striker.
Ron Harris: Eden Hazard can win Chelsea the Premier League
The former Blues midfielder and manager, 56, thinks the pair do not trust their fellow team-mate and says they failed to link up with him in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Saturday.
Morata has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid for a fee of around £60million in July 2017.
The 25-year-old has scored just twice in eight Premier League appearances this season and has often been overlooked for Olivier Giroud - despite the Frenchman failing to net at all in the league in 2018-19.
And Gullit believes Morata’s form is suffering because of his team-mate’s reluctance to get him involved in games.
"They don't come into any positions where they create anything for him,” he said.
"The worst part is you can see Willian and Hazard always dribble inside because they don't trust him.
"It is difficult for a striker to play with these two who go inside all the time, you don't know where to go.
"But also when the crosses are in, I think there was a moment in the first half where you asked ‘where is Morata’, he wasn't there. So they don't trust him."
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is understood to be lining up new signings in the January transfer window to solve his striking crisis.
Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, 25, is reported to be a target but he would cost around £90million.
Krzysztof Piatek of Genoa is also on Sarri’s radar after firing his way to the top of the Serie A scoring charts with nine goals so far this season.
The 23-year-old Poland international has been dubbed the new Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea would need to fork out £40m to sign him.
However, they could face competition from Italian giants Roma and Juventus, as well as Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund.
