Chelsea EXCLUSIVE: Maurizio Sarri makes £40m Krzysztof Piatek No 1 January transfer target
MAURIZIO SARRI is determined to see off his former employers Napoli in the race to land Poland hot shot Krzysztof Piatek.
The Blues boss has made Piatek is number one target to fix his mis-firing attack when the transfer window opens for business in the New Year.
The 23 year-old who would cost £40million has nine goals in the seven games that he has started for Genoa in Serie A this season.
Alvaro Morata has struggled to find the back of the net since arriving in London and Sarri believes that Piatek, 23, is the man to get the goals he needs.
Napoli are keen on Piatek along with Juventus while Roma, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have also had him scouted.
Piatek who only signed for Genoa in the summer but has established himself as one of the hottest strikers in Europe this season.
His side are reportedly considering putting a £60m price tag on his head, in an attempt to ward off any potential bidders.
Genoa chief Giorgio Perinetti said: “We should absolutely exclude possibility of Piatek being sold in January.
“He can improve even more so it’s hard to imagine the parameters and set his valuation now.”
Piatek’s agent, Gabriele Giuffrida, confirmed there had been interest in the forward.
Giuffrida explained that whilst Napoli are keen on making a move, there is still yet to be anything resembling a firm offer.
“We are writing about the interest of many teams, not only of Naples,” Giuffrida explained.
“It is normal for this to happen when there is a player who shoots with the same accuracy as Lucky Luke.
“We do not get caught up in all this media fuss, we remain calm and serene.
“When and if there will be something concrete, we will see.”
Piatek is not Sarri’s only transfer target this January.
It is also reported that the Blues boss is in the hunt for Italy youngster Sandro Tonali.
