CHELSEA battled back to secure a point in a thrilling Premier League clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, but which of Maurizio Sarri's players caught the eye?
Chelsea earned a share of the spoils as they came from behind to draw 2-2 with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Blues centre-back Antonio Rudiger headed the home side into the lead after losing his marker Paul Pogba, with the United star throwing a tantrum after the goal went in.
Jose Mourinho’s side hit back with an opportunistic strike from Anthony Martial before the Frenchman calmly doubled his tally with a tidy finish after Marcus Rashford’s pass.
Chelsea left it late to secure a point with substitute Ross Barkley’s 95th-minute equaliser sparking a touchline melee between Mourinho and Chelsea backroom staff.
Express Sport have rated the Chelsea players for their performances against Manchester United – do you agree?
Chelsea player ratings vs Manchester United – Premier League
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 6
Had a very quiet start to the afternoon but then made a superb save to keep out Juan Mata’s effort just before Anthony Martial equalised.
No Chance with the Frenchman’s second.
RB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 6
Put himself about in the first half and was then in the wars when clattered late by Mata.
Dragged across for Martial’s second, but more of a collective failing than his squarely his fault.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 8
Great header to put Chelsea into the lead after shaking off an inattentive Paul Pogba.
Shackled Romelu Lukaku rather easily and is enjoying a superb season so far.
CB: David Luiz – 6
Had a busy afternoon but looked comfortable alongside Rudiger.
Missed a glorious headed chance to put Chelsea out of sight but was then pulled out of position for Martial’s second strike.
LB: Marcos Alonso – 4
Continually pushed back by Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young before being felled in his own box for United’s equaliser.
Questions will also be asked over his positioning for Martial’s second, so not his finest afternoon.
CM: Jorginho – 5
Found himself closely monitored by Mata in the opening 45 minutes and struggled to exert his usual influence on the game.
CM: N’Golo Kante – 6
Stung De Gea into action with a dipping second-half drive, but found himself chasing shadows as United grew into the game.
CM: Mateo Kovacic – 7
Always positive in possession and looked to drive Chelsea forward as much as possible.
RAM: Willian – 5
Provided the assist for Rudiger and looked bright in the opening spells but found the going much tougher after the break and faded.
LAM: Eden Hazard – 6
Targeted by Young and received plenty of hefty treatment as United looked to stifle Chelsea’s biggest threat.
The plan worked with Hazard struggling to carve out openings in a congested midfield.
ST: Alvaro Morata – 4
Still looks short of confidence in front of goal and shot tamely straight at De Gea after a smart turn.
Wasted another half-chance in the first half and was generally well shackled by Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof.
SUB: Ross Barkley (on for Kovacic, 69 mins) – 5
You would have struggled to notice the midfielder was on the pitch until his vital late strike.
SUB: Pedro (on for Willian, 73 mins) – 5
Enduring a sticky run of form, and nothing changed here.
SUB: Olivier Giroud (on for Morata, 79 mins) – 5
Got involved in plenty of argy-bargy during his cameo, but little actual footballing impact.
