Man Utd news: You'll never believe what souvenir Jose Mourinho signed before Chelsea clash
JOSE MOURINHO will have signed thousands of autographs during his career, but few will have been scrawled on an item as weird as this.
Man Utd: Mourinho says he WON’T gloat if they win at Chelsea
Jose Mourinho is no stranger to signing autographs, with the Manchester United manager having been a recognisable face in world football for nearly 15 years.
The Portuguese boss is a big lure for fans looking to bag a personalised souvenir, although the 55-year-old is not always the most understanding with patient supporters.
However, Mourinho was in a generous mood as the Red Devils headed south on Friday in preparation to take on his former club Chelsea.
The United manager was seen chatting to fans and agreed to sign a truly bizarre shirt as he arrived at Stockport train station.
An eager supporter was spotted accosting Mourinho holding the grey third kit from last season – with one major difference.
Instead of having a player name and number on the back, the 2017/18 strip featured Mourinho printed on the front, complete with the No 1 usually reserved for David De Gea.
Mourinho took the strange autograph request in his stride, scrawling his name in marker pen before heading into the station.
The United boss was then seen on the phone with his hood up as he paced along the platform, keeping his distance from the rest of the players and staff.
Mourinho has had a turbulent season at Old Trafford so far, enduring several high-profile spats with star man Paul Pogba while also falling out with Anthony Martial and Antonio Valencia.
The Red Devils have endured their worst start to a league campaign in 29 years after defeats to Brighton, Tottenham and West Ham, although a 3-2 victory over Newcastle last time out eased the pressure on the beleaguered boss.
Ahead of United’s clash with Chelsea, Mourinho identified Chelsea as favourites to lift the Premier League title.
The former Blues boss said: “The results speak for themselves.
“Obviously they are not playing in the Champions League. That puts them just in the Premier League, and in the Premier League the results speak for themselves.
“Very good results, top of the league and of course lots of good players.
“History says that when Eden Hazard is the best player in the Premier League, Chelsea are the champions.”
Untied were sat eighth in the table ahead of kick-off, while Chelsea were sat joint-top alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.
