Liverpool team news: Early hint as Firmino arrives for PSG clash alongside Salah and Mane
ROBERTO FIRMINO looks in contention to start for Liverpool against Paris Saint-Germain tonight after being spotted arriving at Anfield earlier today.
Liverpool have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their opening Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain tonight.
Roberto Firmino was photographed arriving at Anfield alongside his Reds team-mates, despite suffering a graphic eye injury against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Brazilian striker had been a doubt for the clash against the French champions after Jan Vertonghen’s finger went into his eye socket during Liverpool’s 2-1 win.
However, the club refused to rule him out prematurely and now the 26-year-old looks in contention to start after turning up at Anfield this afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp’s squad traditionally arrive at the stadium ahead of home matches before catching the team bus to a nearby hotel then returning closer to kick-off.
Firmino was seen alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane while the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson and Joe Gomez were also snapped.
Speaking yesterday about the chances of Firmino featuring, Klopp said: "No, not definitely. If we played today, no chance but we all hope that there is a chance until tomorrow.
"So that is good news, that he will be close for the game, because when everybody saw the picture after the game we were all shocked.
"When we had first-time contact with him again he was in hospital, it was a big relief for all of us.
"[It is] painful. Nobody wants to have that. Nobody needs that. He will be fine. We only don't know exactly when.”
Firmino’s presence means Liverpool could field an unchanged line-up from the team which beat Spurs at the weekend.
That would mean captain Jordan Henderson will have to be content with a place on the bench as Klopp opts for Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum alongside James Milner in midfield.
