Chelsea news: Claudio Ranieri reveals what Blues squad really think of Maurizio Sarri
CHELSEA players love working under Maurizio Sarri and there is a great atmosphere at the training ground.
That is according to former Chelsea and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri.
Ranieri visited the Blues training ground earlier this week to meet up with fellow Italian Sarri.
He watched a training session and got a good feel of the atmosphere among the squad.
Ranieri says Sarri wants his players to enjoy the training but also works them hard.
The atmosphere was fantastic, it was fantastic because Maurizio likes to enjoy but is strong, and it’s a good atmosphere
“When I am free I like to go and watch some managers at work,” Claudio Ranieri said on Goals on Sunday.
“The atmosphere was fantastic, it was fantastic because Maurizio likes to enjoy but is strong, and it’s a good atmosphere.
“All the players are happy, it was a good training session. It’s a good atmosphere.”
Chelsea have won all four Premier League games under Sarri to date.
The Blues beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday thanks to goals from Pedro and Eden Hazard.
Marcos Alonso played a starring role and has been in fine form this season.
And Sarri reckons the Spaniard is one of the best left-backs in Europe.
“Alonso, at the moment, [in] this position at left-back is maybe the best in Europe,” Sarri said.
“Physical qualities at a top level, I think. He’s doing very well in the offensive phase.
“But I also think he can improve in the defensive phase.
“If he improves that, he could be the best left-back in the world.”
Chelsea’s next league outing after the international break is at home to Cardiff on September 15.
