Transfer news: Wilfried Zaha tipped to join Real Madrid or Barcelona by Graeme Souness
CRYSTAL PALACE star Wilfried Zaha is good enough to play for Real Madrid and Barcelona, claims Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.
Simon Jordan: Wilfried Zaha could still leave Crystal Palace
Zaha was linked with a move away from Crystal Palace in the summer but signed a new five-year contract once the transfer window shut.
The Ivory Coast international has been a vital player for Roy Hodgson’s side, with the Eagles losing every Premier League game he did not start last season.
Souness is a huge fan of Zaha and says there are not many players across Europe who have more talent than the 25-year-old.
And he admits he could see him playing for either Real Madrid or Barcelona soon.
I can see him playing for Real Madrid, that’s how good he is
“He is sensational,” Liverpool legend Souness said.
“I can see him playing for Real Madrid, that’s how good he is.
“I think there’s maybe a handful of players, even outside our own league, that have got his kind of ability.
“His change of direction, his balance he’s got is quite unique, and I think that’s why he gets fouled and should get more penalties than he does. I don’t see him as a diver.
“But I think he’s got quite a unique talent and with the utmost respect to Crystal Palace, maybe he has been scarred by the experience at Man United, but he’s ready for a big, big club. The biggest clubs.
“Again with the utmost respect to Palace, if he stays here throughout his career he will end up with no trophies, no medals and say ‘what if?’.
“I think he’s ready now to go, even if it means going outside to the big two in Spain, I think both of them would welcome him with open arms.
“He’s a door-opener, there just isn’t too many of those players around.
“He’s unique in our football, almost unique in our football and I am an enormous fan of him.
“I think of Laurie Cunningham who left West Brom and went to Real Madrid.
“He is in that league, he has got the stuff that gets you on the edge of your seat.
"He is a unique player.”
Zaha scored for Palace in the Premier League visit to Watford today.
