René Meulensteen: £80 million for Harry Maguire is over the top
After selling Riyad Mahrez to City for £65million, Leicester City manager Claude Puel is now desperate not to lose any more key players this transfer window.
Maguire was one of England’s stand-out performers at the World Cup and speculation has bene rife that he could leave the King Power Stadium.
However, Puel has this afternoon reiterated his desire to keep the centre-back.
Leicester had placed an £80m valuation on Maguire’s head to put off any suitors and the manager has issued another hands-off warning.

“Of course, it’s very important,” Claude Puel told Sky Sports.
“We discussed this with the owner because we wanted to keep good ambition.
“We lost Riyad Mahrez who was an important player for us. It’s important to keep our players and to add some more good players to strengthen the team.
“For me it’s a good thing for Leicester to keep our valuable players in the team.
“A player like [Wilfred] Ndidi, [Jamie] Vardy all of these players are important for us.

“It’s important to keep them for next season.
“I can understand there is some speculation because we have good players and they are interesting for some other teams.
“For the moment, we are happy to keep them and to start, I hope, a great season.”
United are now expected to focus all of their intentions on Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.
