Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho intervenes on Paul Pogba as Barcelona push for deal
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly intervened on Paul Pogba’s future with Barcelona determined to sign the France international this summer.
However, Pogba has blown hot and cold during his second spell at United, failing to show the same consistency he did at Juventus.
Sport say Barcelona, while wanting to sign the United star, feel a deal is currently unrealistic.
And that is because United would have less than 48 hours to sign a replacement with the Premier League transfer window shutting on Thursday (5pm).
However, Barca will maintain their interest in the player even if there is a 0.01 per cent chance of a move being agreed, it is claimed.
Mourinho reportedly feels Pogba his key to his project despite their differences over the last 12 months.
And he now looks set to remain at United despite claims the Red Devils have earmarked Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as a potential replacement.

Meanwhile, Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand has told United not to sell Pogba to Barcelona.
He tweeted: “Don’t you dare allow this ED... #MUFC is Pogba’s home!!
“Silence these rumours ASAP & get @AlderweireldTob through the door.”
Pogba has recently returned to United training after spending the last few weeks on holiday in Los Angeles.
But Friday’s Premier League opener against Leicester may come too soon, with Andreas Pereira and Fred expected to start instead.
