Mike Perry has recalled his two-word response after suffering a painful injury in the opening round of his fight against Jake Paul. The ex-UFC fighter has claimed that Paul broke one of his ribs with his first punch.

Paul squared off against bare-knuckle boxing star Perry on July 20, securing a TKO victory and boosting his professional record to an impressive 10-1. Despite concerns that The Problem Child was risking his lucrative clash with Mike Tyson, which has been postponed until November, Paul showed his superior skills by knocking BKFC middleweight champion Perry down on three occasions, before ending the fight in the sixth round.

This triumph has sparked wild speculation about Paul potentially contending for a world title, even though he has mostly fought former UFC stars in the boxing ring. It seems that there is power behind Paul's punches, though, as Perry revealed that the YouTuber inflicted a broken rib on him, just seconds after the first bell.

"First 10 seconds, that first punch you hit me with, you popped me," Perry recounted on Jake Paul's YouTube channel. "Because I knew people were gonna be like 'Put your hands up,' right? I come out like this, my hands up. And my rib was wide open, and you hit me in the rib, and I was like, 'That's it.'"

"I put my hands down, and you popped it right away. And I fought through it; that's something, and there are pieces I can be proud of. But, I think it was fair and square."

As Perry recounted the cause of his injury, a stunned Paul exclaimed: "Jesus." This revelation will undoubtedly fuel Paul's confidence as he gears up for his contentious clash with 58-year-old Tyson, who will be stepping into the ring for his first professional fight since 2005.

Following his victory over Perry, it was disclosed that Paul had triumphed despite battling illness and contending with a damaged knuckle to secure his win in Tampa, Florida. Despite this setback, Paul has declared that his injury will not interfere with his upcoming bout against 'Iron Mike'.

"I didn't feel very good tonight," Paul said. "I was sick leading up to this, my knuckle is messed up it's swollen like a big ball. You can see my knuckle was basically broken before the fight."

When questioned about the possibility of postponing his fight with Tyson, he responded: "No, did it delay this fight? No. I'm a warrior, man. I'll fight through anything. We put it all on the line."
