Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson has agreed to put his Premier League winners medal on the line when he faces YouTuber Danny Aarons in the boxing ring.

On Saturday in Dublin, Ireland, Simpson will face Aarons as the two face off for the Misfits Boxing promotions. But there is an odd caveat, with Simpson deciding to bet his winners medal that he will defeat the YouTuber.

Simpson was part of the incredible Leicester team that overcame 5000-1 odds to win the Premier League title. The victory was monumental, with the Foxes’ achievement symbolising one of the greatest triumphs in recent sporting history.

However, Simpson has decided to become the first footballer to step foot in a Misfits Boxing ring. The next installment of the promotion’s X Series takes place this weekend - and the stakes have been raised.

Simpson is set to take place against Tottenham fan Aarons, who put up a wager ahead of Saturday's bout. The gamer agreed to put up the gold plague he received after earning 1 million subscribers on YouTube and in return, he would clinch Simpson’s winners medal from the 2015-16 campaign.

During an face-off between the pair, Aarons said of the bet: “It would mean everything to me. It means even more now I get his Premier League medal.

“I can't believe he said yes to that. You can't go back on that, handshakes are on camera. So if I didn't want to win already, I really want to win now.”

Simpson immediately hit back: “I don't mind shaking hands because that's not gonna happen. You're only saying that because it's the closest time Spurs will ever get to a medal.”

Aarons was amused and swiftly conceded Tottenham will never finish the Premier League season atop the table. He joked: “One hundred per cent, one million per cent. I'll have a Premier League medal before my own club, I have to have it. I'll take it.”
