Jake Paul stuck to his word and knocked out Mike Perry in the sixth round to improve his professional boxing record to 10-1 ahead of facing Mike Tyson on Nov. 15. Paul knocked Perry down three times and the referee eventually put a stop to the contest, in what was Paul's best performance to date.

Paul told Tyson that he'd knock out Perry, and he didn't even flinch after the fight was stopped.

Perry was knocked down in each of the opening two rounds, but the former UFC star showed heart and continued to give his all. His inabilty to protect himself cost him, suffering a brutal cut to the right eye in the third round which began pouring as Paul targeted his weak spot.

Paul apologized to the Tampa crowd for "taking so long" after the fight, but admitted Perry was "tough as nails" as he continued to take shots but hung in there. Paul proceeded to promote his upcoming fight with Tyson after defeating Perry, on the day he was initially meant to face the boxing icon.

July 20 was meant to be a historic occasion for Paul, Netflix, and Tyson, but the latter was forced to reschedule the fight due to an ulcer flare-up in May. Doctors advised Tyson to take it easy for several weeks and only engage in light training to allow the ulcer to fully heal, which meant he wouldn't be prepared to face Paul.

It was a major blow for Tyson, who was ready to make his return to professional boxing for the first time since 2005, and was looking extremely fit after intense training. It also meant that Netflix had to postpone its first-ever live combat sports event, and will now stream the action during one of the busiest periods in the American sports calendar.

Paul was also ready to fight and chose to find a new opponent to keep him fresh ahead of facing the boxing icon. It was soon agreed that Paul would fight former UFC star Mike Perry, who has been competing in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship since 2021.

Perry is 5-0 in BKFC, and Paul admitted that Tyson was worried about his choice of opponent due to his striking power. Paul confirmed ahead of the fight that Tyson was "doing good" and was back training at a high intensity, before adding: "He was concerned about me taking this fight. He was like, ‘What is Jake doing, this guy Mike Perry is a killer’.

"He has some concerns but Tyson. My message to you is don’t worry, I’m going to put this guy to sleep. This guy is a Mike appetizer and then you’re next."

The stage is now set for Paul vs. Tyson on Nov. 15, and 'The Problem Child' has further proven he can compete at a high level in professional boxing. Paul may have a 30-year advantage on Tyson, but while the boxing icon may not have the same stamina he did at the peak of his career, he hasn't lost the power that saw him record 44 knockouts.
