Emmerdale's Cain and Moira on crying and cheeky ad-libs
The actor, who plays Cain Dingle in the long-running ITV series, could be seen covering his face in embarrassment after the presenter dished details of the storyline on air.
Speaking about filming emotional scenes, Phillip noted: “Well Cain doesn’t cry very often.
“And we had Sharon Marshall, who obviously does our soaps, one of the writers on the team did let slip to her the other day that it was said, ‘Oh, we’ll get Cain to cry here because he looks quite vulnerable and sexy.’”
“Oh gosh,” Jeff gasped as he hid his face behind his hands.

Laughing the presenter, asked: “Did you know that?”
“No I didn’t,” the soap star sighed as he began to blush.
Holly Willoughby added: “They quite like you being vulnerable.”
It came after Jeff’s co-star Natalie J. Robb, who stars as his onscreen lover Moira Barton, revealed she has cut crying scenes out of her script.

Phillip, 55, noted: “The amount of crying is quite interesting, because you cried a lot last year and you know beautifully, it was so good and it was so emotional but so much so that they cut some out of it.”
“Well I did,” Natalie explained. “Sometimes in the script, it says, ‘She has to cry’, and I go, ‘Oh no, no.’
“That’s not always somebody’s response to everything that happens.”
Intrigued, Holly probed: “And is that a real skill that you just have to learn?”

“Yeah, it’s a skill that I’ve just had to learn over a period of time,” the actress commented.
“I wasn’t very good at it when I was young, I’ll be honest.”
This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10.30am.
