EastEnders: Ben Mitchell is revealed as the cash thief
Phil (played by Steve McFadden) is now fully aware that Ben (Harry Reid) ran off with the money but fears that he may have been caught by Ciara Maguire (Denise McCormack).
Tonight, determined to get the cash back to her boss, Mel (Tamzin Outhwaite) arrived and demanded to know where it was.
Phil protested his innocence but the comeback queen warned that if he didn’t find the money, it wouldn’t just be Ben (Harry Reid) who would be left fearing for their life.
“Does she know he took the money?” Phil asked.

EastEnders: Mel warned Phil that his son is alive but in danger
Mel replied: “Now if it was that simple, he would have been tied to a rock at the bottom of the sea. Someone did a switch when Ben wasn’t looking.
“His stupidity is the only thing keeping him alive.”
While the hardman insisted he could track down Ciara and explain the situation, Mel warned him not to be so silly.
“If she sees you coming, you will never see him again. Never,” she snarled.

“The only chance you have is if I turn up with her money.”
Mel went on to add: “If Aidan finds out what Ben did, he’s going to come after everyone you love.
“I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this, but we need each other.”
Mel and Phil could later be seen sitting at a kitchen table deciding which member of Aidan Maguire’s (Patrick Bergin) gang is most likely to have taken the cash.
EastEnders: Phil and Mel have decided to target Mick Carter
The pair finally settled on Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), who is desperate for money to save the Queen Vic.
Will their suspicions be correct or are they chasing a dead end?
