Emmerdale spoilers: Robert Sugden arrested amid White family exit shock
EMMERDALE’S Robert Sugden was dragged away by the police in tonight’s tense instalment, while one character made a surprising early exit.
Emmerdale: Rebecca leaves the village and Robert is arrested
ITV’s long-running soap saw Robert (played by Ryan Hawley) continue on his path of redemption following Lawrence’s violent attack yesterday, as he decided to try again with Rebecca White (Emily Head) and his newborn baby Seb.
Little did he know that the tables had turned and the residents at Home Farm were scheming against him, as Chrissie White (Louise Mallard) had an even sharper plan up her sleeve.
Following the reveal that Rebecca had taken baby Seb and left the village for good, a broken Robert declared: “I should have known. You lied. You said you wanted what was best for him.”
“I said I wanted what was best for my nephew and that is to be kept as far away from you as possible,” Chrissie snapped back without an ounce of remorse, before telling Robert that he wasn’t capable of love.

“You’re not capable of that are you,” she said. “You have broken the heart of nearly every single member of my family, and you’ve done it to Aaron [Danny Miller] the supposed love of your life. What would make Seb any different?”
Devastated, Robert barely had time to process the weight of his life falling apart as two policemen seized him in the cafe.
While Chrissie delighted in reporting him for allegations of fraud, Robert refused to go willingly, leaving a devastated Aaron to watch from the sidelines.
Meanwhile, Rebecca and her father Lawrence White (John Bowe) had a final heart-to-heart, as it appeared the young mother was leaving the soap for good.

“Letting Robert drive you away from your own home again, away from your family, it’s not right,” Lawrence begged.
Rebecca fought back tears to reply: “I’ll still see you, you can visit as soon as I’m settled, but I can’t stay in this village any longer.”
Emmerdale continues tomorrow at 7pm on ITV.
