The blonde beauty was in York's Jorvik Viking Centre to discuss the current plans to debate Yorkshire devolution.
Exploring the extremely realistic setting of the museum, Steph, 35, noted that the animatronics were quite freaky because of their realism.
The Teesside reporter moved on to a lady at the end who she proceeded to prod in the face.
However, Steph was left screaming when the woman turned her head to see what she was doing.

Running off camera, she shouted: "There we are, let's get the news and weather where you are this morning!"
Steph could be heard off camera exclaiming: "You're real!" as the local headlines started.
This came after viewers misheard Dan Walker's joke, believing him to have said something outrageous.

The BBC Breakfast host said he would have "subbed himself off" if he made a football gaffe like the one the team had just watched.
But fans of the morning show were left in hysterics and flooded to Twitter to laugh about his blunder.
Steph herself suffered an unfortunate gaffe yesterday when her microphone pack fell off mid-interview.
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
