Coronation Street viewers are convinced that a controversial new storyline is about to happen to Hope Dobbs.

Coronation Street has hinted at a contentious new plot for Hope Dobbs.

The character, played by Isabella Flanagan, first graced the soap in 2010 as a premature baby, born three months early after her mother Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) was caught in a terrifying tram crash. Both Fiz and Hope thankfully survived.

Her initial year was marred by sorrow when her biological father John Stape (Graeme Hawley) passed away before she reached her first birthday. Since then, she has been raised by her mother and stepfather Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).

Over time, Hope has been involved in several major storylines on the cobbles - from battling cancer to committing arson. However, it appears that Hope's life is about to take another dramatic twist on the soap.

Last month, she shocked her parents with a significant revelation. Hope sought advice from Dr Gadass about going on the pill, who gave her condoms and encouraged her to discuss it with her family - which she did, much to their surprise, reports the Liverpool Echo.

This week, Hope is discovered vaping at school by her friends. Furthermore, spoilers for the upcoming week suggest that Hope finds herself in deeper trouble as her secret vaping habit comes to light.

After Cassie (Claire Sweeney) discovers a vape in Hope's school bag, she confronts her granddaughter, who pleads with her to keep it a secret.

However, in a bid to regain trust, Cassie reveals the truth to Tyrone and Fiz who confront Hope and demand she stop using vapes. Despite promising to quit, Hope is later caught stealing more vapes from Dev's shop by Aadi (Adam Hussain).

Fans are now speculating that a dramatic twist could see Hope rushed to hospital due to her vaping habit.

On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one viewer suggested: "They might do a storyline of her ending up in the hospital like some kids in real life do showing the dangers." Another agreed, stating: "I can see this happening."

A third added their thoughts, writing: "That's a good idea, it would definitely be current."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
