Actor Christian Brassington, who portrays the reviled and less-than-holy vicar, is miles away from his alter-ego both in demeanour and physique.
The 34-year-old British star put on two stone for the role in the BBC period drama for his character, who has a voracious appetite for both food and sex.
Speaking in a recent interview, Brassington revealed that his physical transformation for Poldark involved copious amounts of beer and ice cream.
"I quite enjoyed putting the weight on to start with but near the end I didn’t so much – and now I am trying to lose it, which is no fun at all. It takes much longer to lose weight than to put it on,” he said.
The star went on to tell the Mirror: “The producers didn’t demand I put on the weight but this character, he’s a big guy and he needs to be like that and I love that side of things.”
Brassington’s character left quite an impression on viewers after he was seen lustfully sucking a woman’s toes in one episode.

However, his character took quite a dark turn in the most recent instalment after Whitworth was seen forcing himself upon his long-suffering wife Morwenna (Ellis Chappell).
Reflecting on his odious character, the star said: "Ossie is unaware of his own self-importance and obsessed with his appearance, with this very thin veneer of being this man of God.
“He has no self-control when it comes to food or women.”
