Peter Capaldi to be paid MORE than Jodie Whittaker for Doctor Who? BBC Director speaks out
JODIE WHITTAKER will likely be paid the same as her Doctor Who predecessor Peter Capaldi, BBC’s director General Lord Tony Hall has assured.
Jodie Whittaker is revealed as first female Doctor Who
The BBC salary storm has highlighted huge disparities between the gender pay gap, with Chris Evans emerging as the corporation’s highest paid star, earning almost £2million more than the leading female on the bill, Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman.
With the first female Time Lord about to command her Tardis, the most immediate question for Hall was clearly: Will Whittaker be paid the same as Capaldi?
“I would hope that the new female Doctor Who, that Jodie, gets the same as Peter and I'm hugely looking forward to her taking over at Christmas,” he told 5 News.
When asked sternly if that would be the case, Hall added: “That’s a negotiation I don’t want to get into. I don't know what Peter Capaldi got as the old Doctor Who.”
