On the first episode of the new series, the affable star began by re-introducing Lup, an IT project manager from south London, to the show.
Noticing the player’s checked shirt with a yellow pattern, the 47-year-old could not help but comment on it.
“Another great shirt from Lup,” Alexander said.
Before remarking: “Either that or your scrambled egg didn’t quite make the journey this morning.”

However, Lup, who had appeared in the previous series with his partner Ray, took the joke in good humour.
The pair made it through to the final round where they narrowly missed out on winning the £1,250 jackpot.
Yesterday, Alexander and co-star Richard Osman, 46, joked that they do not keep in touch with each other outside of the show.
The host and comedian said he and Richard had “drifted apart” since meeting at university.
He grinned: “We've drifted apart. We really have. I haven't seen you for years, 25 years or something?"
"We have since university, yes! I know, weird. I wonder what you're up to?" Richard quipped back.
Pointless airs weekdays at 5.15pm on BBC One.
