The veteran newscaster struggled to keep a straight face as two-year-old Sol had viewers in stitches running around the studio and squealing.
The segment was an interview with Sol's parents after his father, Ben Ryan, invented a fully functioning bionic arm for the toddler who had to have his arm amputated shortly after birth.
"My next guest is not entirely happy," Alistair opened the interview.

Sol had too much energy to stay on his dad's lap for the interview
"He's been running around and we can understand it. He's a little lad and it takes a bit of time."
The cute kid was clearly full of beans as he took off around the ITV studio while his parents giggled as they tried to keep going with the live interview.
Ben went on to attempt to explain how the NHS's non-functioning prosthetic wouldn't have allowed his son to start understanding and developing the control of a functioning robotic arm, as Sol chipped in by squealing from across the studio on his whirlwind adventure.
His mother, Kate, couldn't help but break into a smile as she explained how the arm had transformed his life, saying: "You've seen what he's like, he's a bundle of joy."

Sol proceeded to giggle as he rolled around on the floor of the studio, beaming as he playfully hid his face from the cameras.
Ben's invention is being heralded as potentially revolutionary by health bosses.
He designed and 3D printed the robotic arm after the NHS told him that they would be unable to help until Sol was older.
