Eastenders’ Samantha Womack makes shock comeback as Ronnie Mitchell in tragic final scenes
SAMANTHA WOMACK made an unexpected return to EastEnders tonight as Jack Branning visited Ronnie Mitchell’s body ahead of her funeral tomorrow night.
EastEnders: Jack cries over Ronnie's body
After Ronnie popped up in a heartbreaking video message last week, Jack (played by Scott Maslen) broke down as he said his final words to the body of his late wife.
Jack’s kept his emotions relatively bottled up since Ronnie and her sister Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) drowned in a hotel swimming pool on New Year’s Day.
However, in tonight’s particularly gruelling edition of the BBC soap, he let his tears wash out in some of the most gut-wrenching scenes in Eastenders’ 30 year history.
What’s more, emotions are bound to spiral as the inseparable sisters are buried tomorrow, leaving Jack and their grief-stricken mother Glenda in pieces. Though, she’s set to rock the big day with a huge bombshell set to shake the devastated husband and father to his core.

Don't watch Enders anymore so forgive me if I'm misinformed
Ronnie and Roxy’s exit was laced in controversy after both the cast and fans were visibly confused by their departures under new boss Sean O’Connor.
Dame Barbara Windsor, who played their doting auntie Peggy Mitchell until last year, called their axe a “mistake”, while actresses Womack and Simons have been vocal about their disappointment.
Last week, Simons tweeted: “Don't watch Enders anymore so forgive me if I'm misinformed. But from what I hear..is ANYONE mourning Roxy on the square? Poor cow.”

Moments after their characters’ demise aired, Womack cried: "I'm sorry I can't respond to any comments. I’m honestly broken. An appropriate end to the darkest year ever. @OfficialRita @RealScottMaslen."
Elsewhere in tonight’s episode, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) appeared to have been lined up for an affair after gazing into each other’s eyes for longer than what is usually deemed socially acceptable for a father and his daughter-in-law.
EastEnders continues tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC One.
