The Archers: Will Rob Titchener get driven out of Ambridge by angry villagers?
IT SEEMED like the villainous Rob Titchener (Timothy Watson) could have been forced to make a speedy exit from The Archers in tonight's instalment.
Villagers discuss ousting Rob Titchener on The Archers
The character has become the most reviled member of the village since the truth emerged about his abusive behaviour during his wife’s recent trial, which included rape and coercive control.
In the latest episode of the BBC Radio 4 soap, the residents of Ambridge were heard having a stern conversation about the dairy farmer in the local pub The Bull.
There were words of dissent as Jack ‘Jazzer’ McCreary (Ryan Kelly), David Archer (Timothy Bentinck) and Jim Lloyd (John Rowe) spoke of Rob’s isolation from the rest of the village in the wake of his court case.
“I do wish you’d let me take a swing at him,” Jazzer was heard telling his companions, while Jim responded: “Violence solves nothing, Jazzer.”
David said that a lot of the villagers were finally seeing Rob’s “true colours”, while Jim concurred, simply saying: “Social ostracisation, it’s a powerful weapon.”
The instalment ended on a tense note as Jazzer told his friends: “Well, he’s not [welcome] and the sooner he realises that, the better.”

Social ostracisation, it’s a powerful weapon
Jazzer’s words hint that Rob could be driven out of the village for his behaviour towards former spouse Helen (Louiza Patikas).
The trio were chatting about Rob’s recent run-in with Emma Grundy (Emerald O'Hanrahan) in the same pub after she refused to deliver a birthday card to his son Henry.
At one point Rob even blasted the young girl as an “evil b****” when she refused to take his verbal assault lying down.
Helen's trial brought out some shocking revelations
However, Rob has already vowed to remain in the village despite his real side being exposed.
This latest episode proved to pick up the plot after last night when fans of the radio soap slammed it for the lack of storyline.
Tonight’s episode also featured Roy Tucker (Ian Pepperell) and Kate Madikane (Perdita Avery) talking about the former’s “blocked chi”, which caused some confusion among listeners who misheard it as “blocked cheese”.
The Archers airs Sunday to Friday at 2pm and 7pm on BBC Radio 4.
