POLDARK fans have been left left unimpressed by the latest actor to take on a Scottish accent in the high-profile drama.
A look behind the scenes of Poldark series 2
Following in the footsteps of other inauthentic on-screen accents from Russell Crowe, Brad Pitt, Jude Law, Mike Myers and Mel Gibson, Bristol-born actor Henry Garrett is the latest to come under fire for his questionable Scottish accent.
Many fans raged online as they struggled with Captain McNeil's dialect in Sunday night's episode during conversations with Poldark's wife Demelza.
Scottish Loose Woman Kaye Adams said: "This is weird. I can't understand the Scottish accent on #Poldark. I thought I was Scottish."
"The actor playing McNeil's attempt at a Scottish accent is beyond excruciating #Poldark," fumed another.

"It is a legal requirement that you have a Scottish accent before you can say any words alluding to "there's been a murder" on TV. #Poldark," vented a third.
A fourth posted: "Goodness, that is a very dodgy Scottish accent on #Poldark."
Other viewers expressed their frustration that producers for the BBC drama chose the 35-year-old actor instead of a Scottish performer to play the part.

"@BBCOne @PoldarkTV His Scottish accent is awful! Surely Scottish actors aren't so hard to find..?! #Poldark #authenticaccentsplease," said one disgruntled fan.
Irish actor Aidan Turner, 33, who plays Ross Poldark, has previously revealed his relief at not having to learn a Cornish accent for the part.
“Poldark is a Cornish character, but the family was wealthy and well respected, and Ross would have gone to public school, so he probably wouldn’t have had a Cornish accent," he said.
“It made more sense not to have it. And I’m sure it made my life easier!”
Poldark continues on BBC One on Sundays at 9pm.
