TRIBUTES have been flooding in across social media today for Sir Terry Wogan, the broadcasting legend who has died at the age of 77.

Among the many golden career moments being re-lived is this clip from 1981 in which he set a world record for the longest successful golf putt ever televised.
In a celebrity special, he managed to sink the ball from a remarkable distance of 100ft while competing at Gleneagles.

He was so staggered by his achievement that he fell over in shock.
The crowd cheered as he celebrated his jaw-dropping success.

Wogan, who was a radio DJ for decades and also provided iconic commentary for the UK’s Eurovision coverage, had been secretly battling cancer when he passed away.
He was heavily involved in BBC Children In Need, his colleagues from which have been speaking of their grief today.
“No no no! In total shock. Goodbye my cheeky chum. Forever in our hearts,” Gaby Roslin posted.
Tess Daly added: “So so sad at the news Sir Terry has passed away.He was the funniest,kindest man,it was a huge privilege to work with him & a joy to know him.

“He had funny nick names for me and always had the biggest smile on his face. I'm heart broken.”
