The Voice UK 2016: Boy George wins over viewers but only nabs one act in debut
BOY GEORGE made his debut on The Voice tonight and it appeared that viewers were impressed with the Eighties icon - even if he only managed to nab one act.

The 54-year-old Culture Club star proved a hit with viewers, leading many people to take to social media and praise him and the show ended up becoming one of the most talked-about subjects on social media, with #TheVoiceUK becoming the top trending topic on Twitter.
Richard Mather posted on the micro blogging site: “@BoyGeorge basically winning at #TheVoice.”
While Helena Pielichaty posted: “Finally, Boy George gets into his stride. 'I'll make you so famous drag queens will want to impersonate you.' Priceless #TheVoiceUK.”
Laura Glover said: “@BoyGeorge has so much #Sass I can't even deal #lovehim #TheVoiceUK.”

Frances Johnston was full of praise: “@BoyGeorge would so want you to mentor me if I was on the voice! #TheVoiceUK.”
The singer-songwriter described himself as the “pitch b***h” of the show after trying and failing numerous times to secure acts as he went up against his fellow judges Ricky Wilson and Paloma Faith.
In the end the musician from Bexley managed to get his first act: 17-year-old self-confessed “angry failed punk” Cody Frost, who blew away the panel with her dark, gothic version of ABBA’s Lay All Your Love.

“Paloma just used the word ‘misfit’, I’m the queen of misfits,” he told the youngster, who had initially opted for Paloma to be her mentor. In the end, Boy George wooed Cody enough to join his team.
However fellow new judge Paloma, 34, received a mixed reception from fans of the show.
One user called Megan tweeted: “@Palomafaith If I could sing I would pick Paloma to be my mentor @BBCTheVoiceUK.”
Jessica de Rooij said: “I might start watching The Voice UK now that Paloma Faith is a judge. Don't really care about the show or the people on it, but I LOVE her.”

On the flip side there were some negative comments for the New York singer with Gareth Davies writing: :I am boycotting The voice Paloma faith's voice just makes me want to smash the TV screen #bringbacktom #TheVoiceUK.”
Rachel Louise said: “I would like Paloma Faith a lot more if she was a mute #TheVoiceUK.”
There were also calls in some quarters to restore axed judge Sir Tom Jones as Hannah Adkins posted on Twitter: “#TheVoiceUK just isn't the same without @RealSirTomJones.”
While Erasmo Recchioni tweeted: “Boy George instead of Tom Jones? Idiots #TheVoiceUK.”
The BBC series, which had a bigger audience than rivals The X Factor last year, is broadcasting its last series before it moves over to ITV.
The Voice continues on BBC1 on Saturdays.
