Warwick Davis brands heartless thieves who stole his caravan 'leeches of society'
HARRY POTTER star Warwick Davis has hit out at the criminals who stole his caravan containing irreplaceable family mementos, calling them "leeches of society".
Warwick Davis talks about his stolen caravan
The 45-year-old British actor launched a campaign on social media after his family caravan was taken from outside his house in Cambridgeshire last week.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain today from his home in Peterborough, Warwick spoke of his upset at the theft: "It was an utter shock, the space on the driveway where it once stood. You can't quite believe it for a moment."
The Star Wars actor went on to describe the precious items that were inside the vehicle: "These were things we'd collected over the years of caravanning. So there were diaries that the kids had been writing ever since they could write about their holidays. Little items of pottery we'd made while we were away.
"So those were the items that mean something. They're the things you can't replace, so that's what we'd really like back.

My touring caravan was stolen in Cambridgeshire last night even though it was locked up with hitch & wheel lock! I want to swear... #rotters

My stolen caravan: Swift/Archway Cranford 545. Could have headed north or south on A1, south on M11 or west on A14. pic.twitter.com/ly0bmLXd1d

If you stole our caravan or know who did, please can we have the sentimental items back that are of no use to you? Special holiday memories.

"You feel a bit angered but I do want to put this into perspective and it is only a caravan essentiality. I know people are going through a lot worse out there in a lot worse crime.
"But what I think this whole thing has done, it's highlighted that the people are fed up with leaches of society just stealing their stuff."
Warwick explained that the crime had been "calculated" with the perpetrators making sure the family were out when they struck.
But it was unlikely that anyone would now want the van now: "It's too hot too handle now, it's like stealing a priceless work of art. If everyone knows about it, no one wants to buy it."
