Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are back for the last-ever The Grand Tour special. Available to stream later this month, The Grand Tour: One for the Road will see the former Top Gear hosts bid an emotional farewell to their lives together after 22 years.

In their last adventure, the beloved trio ignore the instructions of long-time producer Andy Wilman and head to Zimbabwe for a stunning road trip through beautiful and sometimes challenging landscapes leading to an emotional ending on a strangely familiar island. The Grand Tour has proved another big hit for both Amazon and its hosts since its 2016 debut.

Its five-season run has taken Clarkson, Hammond and May to 41 countries and through 187 cars, with previous episodes in the final season taking place in the Sahara, Scandinavia and Central Europe. Explaining why they have decided to call it a day, Clarkson said he is simply ‘worn out’ by the demands of the show, The Mirror reports.

“I’ve done enough of the travel, I was worn out by it,” he said. “I’m too old. It’s a young man’s game.

“The other thing is that if we were to sit down and ask, ‘Where next?’ well, we’ve been everywhere. We’ve done everything you can realistically do with a car and the world has shrunk and that’s the tragedy. The world is a much more troubled place than it was 20 years ago.”

So as Clarkson, Hammond and May say farewell to their Grand Tour, read on for everything you need to know about One for the Road.

What is The Grand Tour: One for the Road about?

As per the official synopsis, One for the Road will see Clarkson, Hammond and May head to Zimbabwe in three glorious cars they’ve always wanted to own; a 1982 Lancia Montecarlo, a 1974 Ford Capri 3-litre and a 1974 Triumph Stag. There, they embark on a classic road trip through some of the most stunning landscapes they’ve ever encountered, winding through lush mountains, spearing across dry planes, cruising down beautiful boulevards, breezing past elephants and giraffes and taking their chances crossing a crocodile-infested lake on three unusual car-carrying boats.

Despite their best efforts to make this last outing a relaxing and agreeable meander between extremely pleasant hotels, the three can’t avoid some typical road trip challenges, starting with the need to take care of the terrible back-up car dispatched at short notice by a disgruntled Mr Wilman. For their emotional farewell to the series, the trio journeyed to their favourite location from 20 years of travelling the world and visited the famous Victoria Falls.

The latest One for the Road trailer shows the gang’s trademark banter as they deal with broken down cars and sinking boats, while viewers will also see them take an ingenious detour down a railway line and find themselves on familiar ground as they cross the border into Botswana.
