BH: Expert apologises after bonus buy item goes 'wrong'

Bargain Hunt star Roo Irvine was forced to apologise to one team after a major gamble went wrong during the auction process.During Tuesday’s episode of the BBC hit show, viewers were taken to Scotland as Natasha Raskin Sharp was joined by two teams, who were tasked with turning a £300 budget into auction profits.

The red team, Iain and Jessica, teamed up with antique guru Roo Irvine and they opted for a brass turtle for £10, an 18-carat gold and diamond ring for £110, and two colourful vases for £45.

After finding all their items, Jessica said: “We’ve got some good buys I think.” Natasha asked: “So you are happy overall?” Turning to her partner, Jessica continued: “Yes I would say so.” Iain wasn’t so sure as he jumped in and said: “I’m on the fence but we will see what happens.”

Natasha went on to say: “Well whether you like it or not they are going under the hammer so now it’s time to choose a favourite.

Jessica revealed: “Well for me it’s probably the vase but I don’t think that will bring in the most profit. I think Roo’s find will be the one to bring in the profit.” Iain agreed as he added: “Yes so definitely the ring.”

Despite splashing out on unique items, the team struggled to make a profit but expert Roo claimed her bonus buy would save the day.

The expert presented a diamond ring, which was bought for £67. She predicted that it would sell for £80 to £120 but things didn’t go as planned.

Iain and Jessica were disappointed as Natasha admitted that they had "made the wrong decision" choosing to go with the item.

Natasha said: “You decided to go with the bonus and risk going for another ring but I think you made the wrong decision because it’s estimated to be worth £20 to £40.

The ring ended up being sold for £30, which meant that they had a £47 loss. Roo was devastated as she turned to the red team and said: “Oh God. I'm so sorry.”

In the end, the couple made a loss on all their items but they still remained positive as Jessica said: “Oh well but it could have been worse.”
