BBC Strictly Come Dancing ‘cheating’ row minutes into show as Pete Wicks shames co-star

Strictly Come Dancing has been hit with a ‘cheating’ row just minutes into the new 2024 series after Jamie Borthwick was embarrassingly called out live on air.

The new series kicked off tonight, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the hit BBC show, and viewers learned through the evening who the celebrity stars are and which professionals they’re going to be paired with.

Prior dance experience is always a source of controversy among fans, as amateurs who have never danced before are forced to compete against celebs who have danced in musicals or as a career in the past.

Love Island star Tasha Ghouri is one name who may cop some flak for her previous experience but in the opening scenes it was Jamie Borthwick who the other celebrities ganed up on.

Tess Daly asked Jamie: “Jamie, you had a taste of Strictly at Christmas last Christmas,” before Wynne coughed into his hand and “cheat!”.

There were audible gasps as Chris McCausland then grabbed Wynne and said ‘this man’s a hero!’.

Tess then continued: “What made you want to come back for the full ride?”

Jamie then replied: “I just had such a fantastic experience so it was a bit of a no brainer to come back really.”

Later on in the next round of interviews, Pete Wicks also called Jamie out, adding: “I’m in for a penny in for a pound. I’m never gonna be here again am I?

“Unless I’m Jamie.”

Fans didn’t miss the opportunity to turn the screw on Jamie’s unfair advantage.
